Cloudways does not run its own datacenters. It is a managed layer on top of DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS and Google Cloud: the machines still come from those five, while Cloudways handles provisioning, the cache stack, backups and monitoring for a monthly management fee. Same-spec pricing is therefore well above going to the underlying cloud directly — a 1GB instance is about straight from DigitalOcean versus 1 through Cloudways. It suits WordPress and PHP site owners who would rather not touch operations, and is a poor fit if unit price is the only criterion. Being managed hosting, capacity is provisioned on demand and never sells out.
